Parental interest and involvement in a child's education is a major factor in the academic success of the child, and parents' input is welcomed. Together we can raise wonderful children!
We have found that a child's nutrition has a major effect upon his or her ability to learn well and rapidly and to get through the day happily and energetically. Over the years we have seen behavioral problems resolve by reducing or deleting sugar, and, more importantly, by deleting chemical additives and/or processed foods. For this reason we ask parents to send lunch and snack foods that do not contain these items.
Experts suggest that children 6 to 9 years of age do well with 10 - 12 hours sleep, and that children between the ages of 10 and 12 years of age benefit from 9 - 10 hours of sleep.
We have noticed that students who watch minimal TV seem to find it easier to exert effort in their schoolwork, activities, and generally in life. We offer this simply as something for parents to consider. Some families have deleted TV from their schedules and been happy with the result.
